Organizing by color has helped improve inventory management due to the ease of spotting the bins needed, quickly. For an example of a quick color breakdown for bin storage - here's how I organize my items.
Pink bins: Newly sourced/ To be inventoried, detagged, + cleaned
White/Clear bins: To be photographed, measured, + listed
Green bins: To be bagged + tagged with serial number
Blue bins: Final step for inventory, where listed items that is completely done with the process ends up and awaits being sold/shipped out!
By processing inventory in color coded steps, I lose inventory 10x less often and manage to keep my sanity remembering the stages of new inventory hauls. It allows me to process multiple hauls at once and/or break up my time of processing new inventory and taking care of older inventory too!
